Light has come…

Christmas time is here…as a family, we have survived the programs and parties and are getting close to the time when we can relax and reflect on the birth of Jesus.

As time passes (way to quickly) our approach to Christmas traditions has changed. We still love to drive around and look at lights, read a special Christmas story book and fondue every year. However our “Christmas Communications” have changed. As a young family we created a tradition of writing a Christmas newsletter. Then we transitioned to a family picture. Now for the past few years we have evolved to the stage of  “we post pics on social media and you are welcome to have a look.” 🙂

This morning, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and came across a pic of our girls nine years ago.

I wonder where time has gone…it seems like we were just perfecting the art of changing diapers and holding bottles, now we are blessed with an honest to goodness teenager, pre-teen and three boys that seem to never run out of energy.

In the midst of growing kids and changing traditions, there are many parts of our lives that have not changed…and most important is the truth that we celebrate the baby in a manger as the Savior of the world.

As a family and as a church we never grow tired of hearing the amazing story about the birth of Jesus and I am excited to invite you to join us for our Christmas services this weekend.

On Christmas Eve, we will have a candlelight service that begins at 5pm. There will be Christmas carols, worship songs, Scripture readings, candle lighting and I will bring some closing thoughts from the books of Isaiah and John on the concept that “Light has come.”

On Christmas Day, we will have a shortened and more informal service beginning at our normal time of 10:45am. Pastor Dave has a special story that the entire family will enjoy. In addition, we will have some special snacks and coffee  and everyone is invited for Christmas Lunch afterwards served by the Lefebvre community group.

No matter where this email finds you this Christmas Season, on behalf of our New Life CityChurch family, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas.
